Bootcamp vs Treadmill, which is better at losing weight?
Bootcamp vs Treadmill, which is better at losing weight?
by Neil Perkins
Bootcamp is a buzz word. Everyman and his dog has now been to Bootcamp. There are many versions of Bootcamp and the traditional format is military style training where someone stands over you and gets you to do press ups until you are sick! Most branded Bootcamps now (ours included) tend to use dynamic exercise in a circuit or Tabata format for a high intensity, express workout. This is growing in popularity as people are looking for an action packed, stress relieving workout that delivers results.
Calories burned per hour
Bootcamp burns more calories than even a sprint treadmill workout. Wall Balls, Battle Ropes, Box Jumps and Kettlebell Swings eclipse the calories burned on a treadmill.
Metabolic Overdrive
Big compound movements are better at promoting lean muscle tissue and therefore have a greater ‘afterburn’ effect. As your muscles recover and repair from some big movements your metabolism is boosted.
Fun Factor/ Stress Relief
Run on a treadmill or perform in an engaging and intense 30 minute workout? Is there really comparison? A HIIT bootcamp will be far more engaging, fun and provide more stress relief.
