3 Reasons to train for strength.
3 Reasons to train for strength
By Steve Barber
1. Makes you a better athlete/day to day person
Training for strength will make any athlete better at what they do or make day to
day life for the general person a lot easier. For athletes (depending on the sport
that you partake in) using the right movements programmed to your best ability
will improve your sports performance. This will strengthen any movement pattern
that you have to perform, on a repeated basis which will make you a more
powerful and durable athlete. For the general day to day person using strength
movements such as a standard squat, bench and deadlift, will improve quality and
ease of life, such as simple tasks like bringing in the shopping and not to mention
will save you time as you can now bring it in all in one go with your new found
strength.
2. Bulletproof your joints
As we age the usual complaint most people have usually centers around sore
knees, elbows and backs the easiest way to combat this is to get stronger with
correct technique. A well designed and thought out strength program will not
only strengthen muscles but will also help to strengthen the specific
musculoskeletal areas which is usually the main culprit in joint degeneration.
3. Become healthier
Although the general consensus for health is to mainly focus on cardiovascular
exercise, strength training can be just as good at increasing health by being a bit
more exciting. A well-designed program can help to strengthen muscles and the
heart by using the aerobic and anaerobic energy systems, meaning the body has
to adapt which will mean an increase in overall health.
